Pharma Chemicals(Uquifa) manufactures and develops active pharmaceutical ingredients and fine chemical intermediates for the generic, ‘big pharma’ and biotech sectors of the life science industry. Manufacturing, research and development sites are in Spain, Italy and Mexico. There are commercial offices located in Barcelona,Spain,Chicago,USA and in Guangzhou,China.We employ 430 people – over half are highly qualified chemists, pharmacist and engineers dedicated to servicing our ever growing customer base.
Our facilities give us the ability to develop products from the gramme scale in the laboratory to multi tonne, industrial scale. We deliver high quality GMP products at competitive rates.
Over the last 15 years Uquifa has developed a large franchise of APIs in a number of therapeutic categories with special emphasis on anti-ulcer, anti-bacterial,anti-parasitic and anti-depressants. Our majors products include Omeprazole,Ranitidine,Ciprofloxacine and Fluoxetine.
Uquifa sells products to over 95 countries worldwide and has developed experience and an established track-record of success and compliance with health Regulators,including the U.S. FDA and the European EDQM.
Uquifa´s goal is to file six DMFs (‘drug master files’) in the major generic markets every year as a number of important products come off patent. Our generic pipeline is varied ,competitive and in a number cases Uquifa has successfully commercialised non-infringing processes to able to be the first to market.
Uquifa supplies APIs and advanced intermediates to the innovator market for use in clinical trials and for commercial sales. Our customer base includes a number of the top 10 innovator multi-nationals. The wide of technologies available within Uquifa´s sites include enteric–coated pelletisation,freeze-drying,hydrogenation,nitrations,ozonolysis and tailoring of physical properties. Research and Development is at the forefront of Uquifa´s strategy. To this end we have the capability to develop and manufacture compounds that require high levels of containment(0.1 microg/m3) such as cytoxic molecules for Oncology treatment,a major area of research spend.
